I changed internet providers and the new network has a different name so my hub has become inaccesable. I can find it with the mac address but it won't connect. How do I get back into the hub?
Thanks for the suggestion but I have done that. The hub reboots properly and I can see the hub if I use the mac address to find it but then when I want to connect it times out and won't connect. I am wondering if it is looking for the old internet name and the new network name isn't being recognized.
Does the network reset button cause the hub to fall back to WiFi access point mode so that new WiFi credentials can be saved to the hub?
I’m guessing OP is referring to a WiFi connection.
@wortley487 is your hub located close to the new ISP router? Fastest way to update the WiFi credentials is probably to connect an Ethernet cable, then browse to http://hubitat.local or http://findmyhub.hubitat.com/
Once you’ve connected to the hub interface over Ethernet, you can update the WiFi credentials then remove the cable and reconnect to the hub once it has established its WiFi connection to your new router.
I have the hub connected to the router via ethernet. If I go the http://findmyhub.hubitat.com it isn't found. If I use the advance option and put in the mac address it finds it. But when I go to connect it won't connect. The old IP address is different from the new found IP address. Could that be the problem?
...and if you manually type in the new IP address into a browser what happens??
I get a message that the page can't be found
Is there a way to hard reset the device without getting into the hubitat program so I can start over?
I wouldn't do that yet. Can you ping the ip address that shows in findmyhub?
If I ping the device is says request timed out
While the hub is on? What is the hub plugged into? Both power and ethernet port?
Yes, it is plugged into power and the ethernet. If I unplug the ethernet then it can't be found using the wifi
I meant what power adapter, and what is the ethernet plugged into? Switch, router?
It is plugged into a surge protector without an adaptor. This is where it has been since its purchase. The ethernet cable is connected directly to the router provided by comcast that I picked up yesterday
What is the address it got?
192.168.207.67
And your address?
my address?
The device you are trying to connect from.
It also needs a local ip address like your hub.
