I broke the firmware… Aeotec Siren 6

Well, I learned something very valuable. Do not update firmware from the Hubitat app on your phone and switch apps during the firmware update and then forget about the update entirely. Or more simply… do not update firmware from the habitat app on your phone.

But I didn’t know that several hours ago when I tried to update the firmware of my Aeotec Siren 6. It’s firmware is very… not working anymore.

I’m getting a weird combination of responsiveness using the link reliability test in the zwaveJS settings, and some other places look like it’s communicating just fine. Yet it will not receive any commands and it will not make any sound. It does not do anything.

I cannot update the firmware using the built-in Z wave JS functionality because it cannot receive the current firmware information from the siren so I can’t even begin the update or check out for the automatic updates

I tried the Z wave firmware updater driver, but it immediately tells me to wake my sleepy device, which doesn’t make sense because it’s a main powered device not battery powered. I humored it and still pressed the action button on the siren a few times and it didn’t “wake up”.

I think the options remaining to me are a factory reset, or I could always try a firmware repair using a Z wave stick, which I do not own and would need to go buy

Anybody have any other clever ideas or helpful hints for a situation like this? Would very much appreciate any assistance haha.

It looks like the node interview didn't complete or completed with errors..

There is a backdoor method to force an interview on a specific node..

/hub/zwave2/reinterview?node=16

Thank you so much, but you give me far too much credit, Sir. I have no idea what to do with that line.

I have Aeotec Doorbell 6 (very much like Siren 6) and found including it with Z-waveJS just hangs and leaves a ghost.

Temporarily reverted my C8pro to old ZWave and it included instantly.

Just a data point. May not be issue here.

Enter that into a browser with http://your-hub-ip-address/ before it.

For example: http://192.168.1.2/hub/zwave2/reinterview?node=16

 .. Have you tried since the ZWave-JS update?

Ah that makes more sense to me, thank you both. Entered it, received a confirmation "done", but the Siren is still behaving as before.

So am I correct in my thinking that I can either Factory Reset or try to repair the firmware with a z-stick device at this point? Nothing else really?

Did it on 2.5.1.142.

.

thank you very much for this tip. I just might try this after excluding and factory resetting it.
