I broke my Zigbee mesh (a month after a C7 -> C8 Pro migration)

I did a migration from my C7 to a C8 Pro about a month ago. After a hiccup or two, everything on the new hub was working fine. I had left the C7 powered off since I did the migration.

So I decided to reset the C7 and turn it into a spare hub. I turned it on (I'd already given it a new IP address) and immediately disabled Zigbee, Z-wave, and Matter. I didn't want it to affect my working meshes.

Since you can't hard reset it (it's registered to my account), I followed Full Reset Alternatives at the bottom of Soft Reset | Hubitat Documentation.

I reset each of the three radios and then I did the soft reset. I then had to go through the on-boarding process on the hub. I then enabled the radios one at a time. Both the Z-wave and Zigbee settings page still showed devices (even though the hub no longer had any devices). I reset the two radios again. When the hub finally came up from the last reboot, it was a blank slate.

A little while later, I realized my Zigbee mesh on my C8 Pro was no longer working.

I checked the Zigbee detaisl on the C7 again, and realized it was still using the same Pan ID and Extended Pan ID as the C8 Pro I had migrated to. I thought the Zigbee radio reset would change that, but it didn't.

So I immediately disabled Zigbee on the C7. And then I just shut it down and pulled the power.

The two hubs with the same Pan ID were running at the same time for at least an hour.

I've already done a Radio reboot and a Rebuild network on the C8 Pro Zigbee settings page. I've already tried to panic my Zigbee network by having the C8 Pro powered off for 20 minutes. Both times, when it came back up, none of my Zigbee devices were responding.

I now have the C8 Pro powered off again, and I'm waiting 30 more minutes before powering it back on.

I'm not sure what else to try.

I just remembered the other thing I did on the C7 after the soft reset (but before I realized the duplicate Pan ID). I changed the Zigbee channel from 23 to 21.

Anyway, I just gave the C8 Pro 40 minutes off and turned it back on. Still no Zigbee devices working. :frowning:

@support_team

I restored from the latest cloud backup, including Zigbee and Z-wave. Still not working.

I started resetting each Zigbee device. They come immediately back online. 153 total.

145 to go. :frowning:

Bummer.

I broke my own rules and didn't download all the manuals for some of my newer (2-3 year old) devices. Finding the reset instructions is a PITA.

93 to go. :frowning:

I guess nothing came back on it's own overnight?
Plus, they might be in awkward places.

I saw this today. Would it help? Maybe the radio grab?

Nothing :(.

Apparently I also broke my Matter network. I only have 2 devices, but I'm not sure how to get them back working!

I had 4 Iris V2 contact sensors all reconnect on their own (out of the 50 or so I have). All 4 were located in freezers or refrigerators. They came back at about 24 hours after I broke things - just as I was about to reset them, I noticed they were working.

About 20 devices left. Some are the Ecosmart Zigbee bulbs, which I've had a terrible time resetting. The instructions are:

Reset to Factory Setting
□ Using the wall switch, physically switch ON and OFF 6 times within 5 seconds.
□ The LED bulb will flash twice after a successful reset.

I have now reset 12 of these bulbs -- it has taken hundreds of tries to get them to reset them. I have another 4 to go. :frowning:

What would have been the correct way to bring the C7 back online?

@bobbyD I wonder that, too.

When I did my C-7 to C-8 migration, I was concerned that it would be a potential issue if I had two zigbee coordinators with the same address operational at the same time. @mike.maxwell indicated that it wasn't an issue if they were using different channels.

Anyway, I powered up the C-7 at a friends house, factory reset it there, and changed its zigbee channel before bringing it back home. Didn't cause any issues with my C-8 zigbee network.

None of my Iris v3 motion sensors seem to be working once they are re-paired to the C8 Pro. They worked fine for years on the C7, and had been working fine after I migrated to the C8 Pro. But re-pairing them to the C8 Pro they don't seem to ever report motion.

It looks like this (and I've tried almost everything listed in the first post):

Memory says that @danabw has Iris V3 motion sensors that are working on his C-8 Pro. I'm tagging him so he can provide some insight - perhaps some zigbee channels work better than others?

After about a dozen resets and re-pairs, one of my three is now working.

A dozen more resets and I got a second one to work.

The third one totally resists completely pairing in any of the three modes (normal, no 3.0 repeaters, keys in the clear).
