Hue Integration App - Motion Sensor

I have an SML004 Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor.

I tried adding it natively to the hub via Zigbee--but it wouldn't stay paired (I'd pair it, supposedly successfully, but it would start flashing orange seconds later--I'd enter pairing mode & it would "reconnect" momentarily and immediately start flashing orange again). This was after updating to the newest firmware (by connecting to the Hue Hub, then deleting the device, and resetting it).

I gave up and paired it back to my (old) Hue Bridge and that seems to work (staying connected now).

However, the bridge integration is WAY less functional than the direct motion sensor. There's no battery, no ability to tell it how often to react to motion (e.g., no more than once a minute), etc.). It's a really bare-bones sensor through the bridge.

Can the bridge app be updated to surface more of the basic features that are available through the direct Zigbee driver?

It would be helpful if the device would stay paired through Zigbee as well--no clue what its problem was there. @bcopeland : Is this something you might be familiar with?

Thanks!

My Hue outdoor motion sensors are a bit older (SML002), but they all were very finicky about what repeater they would pair with. I think I had to walk around the house and try pairing them close to certain repeaters (Samsung outlets in my case). I do remember pairing a couple of them twice because the only attribute coming through was temperature.
You could also try pairing with specific repeaters by using the built in feature in the Zigbee Map App. I haven’t had any problems with them once paired, and that’s been since the C-8 came out. Prior to that, I had to leave the outdoor ones on the Hue bridge as they wouldn’t stay connected to my C-5.

Battery is available via the Bridge integration. If that is not working, please enable debug logging and see if anything stands out, particularly as you do a poll or refresh the Bridge device.

You should be able to configure features like sensitivity through the Hue mobile app. I'm not even sure if this is supported over the API, but it would apply to the device and not any particular way of using it. I don't believe timeout is configurable this way at all, but, of course, the solution is usually to write your automation to account for what you need.

This is more of a FYI, but sensitivity can be configured via the API, but it works the exact same way as setting it via the app. I'd agree that if a user has the motion sensor attached to the Hue Bridge, it's best to use the Hue App to set the sensitivity rather than Hubitat.

On the C7 a couple of SML004's failed to complete pairing, had to pair them right next to the hub prior to taking them outside to their final location. For a belt-and-suspenders approach, one can do that AND use the Zigbee Map App to select advanced pairing -> hub only.
