Hue Adds Concurrent Matter + ZB support

Somewhat interesting, as I didn't realize this was possible, given that Thread and ZB are fairly close in frequencies apparently the latest SiLabs radio can support this (CMP)

I bet they’re using time-slicing (time division multiplexing). I know that’s possible with several 802.15.4 SoCs. I can see it working for an end-device. But it is not a good idea for a controller.

According to the below, they are not, I was curious so did some digging.

The key quote is: enables the device to concurrently receive Zigbee or Thread packets using a single radio (and no time slicing). It achieves the differentiation between the protocols through the unique PANID associated with each protocol stack, a functionality referred to as the Multi-PAN feature

See: Concurrent Multiprotocol - An In-Depth Exploration - Silicon Labs (And this article is roughly 18 months old, so interesting that Hue has just starting leveraging this)

The C-8 Pro cannot use the radio for both Zigbee and Thread at the same time :frowning: (hardware limitation, unfortunately)
