Here's my setup thus far and I'm hoping for some tips/advice:
-
Hubitat - set up and working with a few z-wave devices. I added package manager as well as the Ring Integration (although I don't see how to use this for my ring doorbell and cams). Does the Ring Integration allow live or snapshot videos to be displayed in a dashboard? If the native dashboard does not, then does SharpTools or Home Assistant have that functionality?
-
Ring: doorbell, 2 floodlight cams, and a wireless chime
-
Alexa - I have a new Echo Dot that I set up and is integrated with Hubitat. Eg - voice control "turn off kitchen lights" goes through Hubitat and turns off z-wave switches.
-
I just got a new Yoga 11 tablet and my plan was to make it a Hub in my kitchen running the
a) Hubitat Dashboard on the screen most of the time
b) Alexa android app in the background (replacing the Echo Show in this room) as the voice assistant
c) Ring live view integration that switches automatically upon doorbell press or other trigger
This is where my problems start:
The Alexa app on the Android tablet doesn't appear to be compatible with Live View (error message 'Live view isn't available right now"). Live view works fine through the Ring app but just not in Alexa. This kind of puts a damper on my plan to be able to say "Alexa show me the door bell live view" etc.
I guess as an alternative I could do the following:
- Keep android tablet in kitchen but just have it dedicated to Hubitat + Ring
- Put small Echo puck behind tablet for strictly voice control ("turn off lights"), although it's a bummer it couldn't also show live feed via voice control.
- Return the Yoga and buy an Echo Show instead (Blah). I really wanted the flexibility of a full Android tablet.
Does anyone have a setup like this with any tips on how to get it working?
