Hubitat has been mostly trouble-free the last year, but lately I'm noticing something major wrong. I'm not using any special apps other than the stock ones and a couple integrations (Lutron, Sonos and Philips Hue). I have a grand total of 10 Rules in RM4 and 33 groups and scenes.
The hub performance has gotten slower and slower each week. It was so bad that I did SOFT RESET last week which didn't seem to improve performance.
Today I came home and the thing was totally locked up. (Just a RED light on). I couldn't reach it through the home page so I powered it off and then back on. It took 15 minutes to start up again.
The only unusual thing I notice in the logs are that it drops and restarts the telnet connection to Lutron occasionally. NO OTHER ERRORS for days.
I am on the latest software: 2.1.7.127
Anyone else experiencing this or have any suggestions?
This seems as good a place as any to suggest to Staff (maybe @bobbyD?) that an outstanding piece of documentation would be "What to Do When You Think Your Hub is Slow". I've seen many posts here where people claim their hub becomes sluggish. And frankly, I've been experiencing some of that lately too.
We're told that surfacing hub performance metrics such as CPU utilization, etc. isn't going to happen because that wouldn't be useful information. OK, I'll buy that. But tell me .. what do we do when we think something is amiss?
The events logs aren't always helpful. I have a Motion Lighting rule where the events show a clear 8 second delay between motion detected and light turned on. So what was going on in the interim? There are no events about anything during that time. So what was keeping Hubitat busy? Or am I making an incorrect assumption about Z-Wave/Zigbee events and what they actually mean.
Until we get that documentation, I just back out changes made recently and see if eventually it gets better. But I'd like to take a more scholarly approach to troubleshooting.
I second the motion. Came home to a locked up hub, even :8081 couldn't reach hub.
Had to hard reset twice in last 2 days. Did a soft reset yesterday, seems better, but what has happened to reliability

I did alot of reading, seems I needed a soft reset.
The only thing I did prior as a potential cause, was remove 2 sonoff devices, and swapped 2 z-wave plug's locations. You know, christmas lights...

This usually is indicative of a network problem, unless the hub was shut down.
What do you mean by "hard reset"?
This means that your hub's database was locked. Usually this happens when the database is corrupt. A Soft Reset with restore should fix it. However, if you continue to get these kind of errors, you will need to identify what is causing the gridlock. Have you recently added the Zooz power meter or you had it for a while?
Thanks Bobby, hard reset a k a pull the plug because :8081 was a 401 error for reboot/shutdown, nothing was working. Later discovered I should have re-logged in,, as the "logout" button does not give reliable indication of being logged in.
The zooz power strips had been attached 3-4 months ago and I "think" has been behaving? This was the first such errors for that device. It is very chatty and I raised the threshold for reports. Should I remove and re-add the zooz power strip?
Would love to know root cause for corruption in DB.
