Not built in, no. Odd that DarkSlateBlue doesn’t work, since it is a named / known CSS HTML spec color. It was removed from the child, but never removed from the dashboard select list for some reason.
A work around to “changing” the background color is just link to a solid color background image of your choice.
Darkslateblue does not work most likely because it has typo and it says “state” instead of “slate”. I think crimson was also misspelled but didn’t see it on the dashboard anymore? I wasn’t able to get either misspelled color working on the dashboard.
is there an api do so or you mean background change thru dashboard edit manually?
Just find a solid color image and use the grid background image box to change it.
More adventurous could edit the json layout file but any future updates to the grid would over ride it.
A feature request would be to add the ability to pick a specific color.

Are you looking to change background color as a notification method? Change to red for alarm, or something along those lines?
