Hubitat C8 - Unable to Access Hub / Hub Offline

I’m having an issue with my Hubitat C8. Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

Here are the details:

  1. Issue:

I receive a “This site can’t be reached” message when trying to access the hub.

  1. Hub Status:

The green light on the hub is on.

The hub appears as offline on my router.

I can’t access it through its IP address or findmyhub.hubitat.com.

The hub was working fine this morning.

Nothing changed except for a brief power flicker in the house this afternoon, which might align with when the hub went offline.

  1. Troubleshooting Steps Tried:

Restarted the router.

Reset the network settings using the pin hole method.

Attempted accessing the hub through port 8081, but it didn’t work.

Anyone have any ideas on further steps to resolve? Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Thank you for your help!

Bryan

Could try rebooting the router to see if that forces a reconnect.

Sounds like it's ip has changed. Can you confirm the ip by the DHCP table in your router? Or set a DHCP reservation then press the network reset button for 7 seconds again then try to get to it via the DHCP ip you reserved in the router.

Tried both through the app (Eero) and physically unplugging it. Didn't with.

It no longer shows an IP on the device in my eero app. Setup forwarding (which I forgot to do when I upgraded to the c8), still not working after the network reset button. :frowning:

plug it and your laptop directly into your router. Check DHCP table for issued ip or use advanced port scanner to scan your network (it's free)

Unplug the hub from power for 30 seconds and plug it back in.

Do you have a reserved IP set for the hub in the routers DHCP?

Once you do get back in you may want to do a reboot with database rebuild to clean up any garbage from uncontrolled shut downs.

Are you attempting to connect via WiFi or Ethernet?

If WiFi, then the network reset has probably reset your WiFi credentials, and the hub does not know how to join your network.

Look at available WiFi networks on your phone, and see if there is a network called "My New Hubitat".

Or you could connect the hub by Ethernet and it will appear automatically on your network. At this time you could connect to it, enter your Wi-Fi information, and the then unplug the cable and return the hub to it's original location.

Is this true? I think last time I checked the network reset does not clear the Wifi credentials. It just sets the hub back to DHCP and clears the static IP settings. Could be wrong though.

This worked! Thank you. I remember being told not to reboot that way (pretty much at all costs) but I guess we tried everything else. Thank you so much.

you do want to shut down before unplugging power for 30-seconds to a minute. It prevents corruption

Yes, normally, but if the hub is totally locked up or offline and you cannot access it there is not much other choice but to yank the plug.

To be honest I don't know for certain. I just assumed that a Network Reset" would reset all aspects of the network configuration. You are likely correct, as I am relatively new to the game.

Now having said that, based on my experiences, I think I would find a total network reset more preferable.

My suggestion of looking for the hubs internal Wi-Fi SSID, was to verify if it was unable to connect to the home Wi-Fi for any reason at all.

This makes sense in retrospect. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any options before doing that. Thanks again! And thank you all for helping!
