Hub variable grayed out

I have existing hub variables. I went to add another hub variable. The + sign to add is grayed out and I cannot add a variable. I searched for this issue. The solution linked in this post says to go to /installapp/status/# and delete all hub variables. But I have existing variables that I presume I would have to re-enter manually. There are only 4 of them, but is there a way avoid deleting and re-creating them?

You have a variable selected in that screen shot. Try clicking Done, that should allow you to add another if desired.
