I have a C-7 hub. It has been a very static environment that hasn't changed in terms of devices or apps for 2+ years. I upgraded it to the latest platform version today, and when it came up, there was an alert about low memory which had not been there before. The first suggest was to reboot the hub, which I did. Now the hub is unreachable. The front LED is blue. When I try to use the app to connect, I get a "NETWORK ERROR There is a problem connecting to the hub" etc. When I use a web browser to connect, I get "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx refused to connect". I can see that the hub is connecting to my router. Please help, thank you in advance.
That means the hub firmware isn't loaded. You need to use a regular pc browser, go to whateveryourhubipis:8081 and do a restore from backup.
No. That is definitely much larger than I have ever seen.
The previous instruction said to go to hubip:8080 and do the restore, but as I mentioned the hub refuses to connect via browser (and app as well). I was just looking at the Hubitat documentation and I cannot understand how to restore a backup if I can't get to :8080. I can get to the diagnostic tool (:8081), do I need to restore a previous version of the platform?
That was probably a typo and @rlithgow1 meant 8081 (Diagnostic tool).
Yes.
Then do a soft reset + database restore. And finally, redo the platform update.
Thank you - I honestly couldn’t find those steps together in the help documentation for recovering from a failed platform upgrade, so just to make sure:
- Go to hubip:8081 (Diagnostic tool), enter MAC address, restore previous version
- Also in Diagnostic tool, perform Soft Reset
- When hub reboots, go to hubip:8080 (UI), Settings, Backup and Restore, restore the last good backup
Before I do the restore, I am going to delete that very big .LZF file - is there any problem in doing that?
Thanks again - I think I remember your username from the old Wink days 10+ years ago!
If you can connect to your hub after restoring the previous firmware, I would just do a reboot with the “Rebuild database on reboot” checked. Then try to update the firmware again. With your apparently corrupted database, I wouldn’t want you to do a soft reset and then not have a working database to restore.
After restoring the previous version I was able to reload a recent backup, so I am back to the point before I tried the platform upgrade.
I will attempt a rebuild on reboot before I retry the upgrade, thanks for the suggestion.
This is a good idea.
