Hub Mesh - How do I move Echo Speaks?

I recently migrated my C7 to a new C8 with the intent of reusing the C7 to offload some of the load from my main hub. Been up and running for a while now, so I have soft reset the old hub, reset the radios and then disabled them.

I want to migrate some larger apps over to my C7 hub. Since people say that Echo Speaks is a bit of a hog I figured I'd start there.

I'm not sure really notionally how to do this. I use Echo Speaks devices extensively in rules. How do I got about "moving" Echo Speaks from the C8 to the C7? Do I have to rewrite these rules? Can the names of the devices persist? etc.

Sorry to be dense, I've read the Mesh doc, but it's lacking in explaining this sort of thing. Hub Mesh | Hubitat Documentation

I figured I'd move Kasa devices and LifX bulbs after that...
Many thanks in advance.

Install echo speaks on the C7 and get it up and running. I am not 100% sure if you can have both hubs tied to your server at the same time but I assume you can.

That should create all your echo devices on the C7. Then you can export the rules from the C8 and import to the C7. When importing the rules, the echo devices will now be on the C7, you will need to turn on hub mesh on all the devices on the C8 you need and then link them to your C7.

Once everything is over you can remove echo speaks from the C8

The current version of echo speaks is pretty efficient.

On my system up 10days, the total app load is 2.4% and echo speaks is 4% of that or %0.09

So should look at your system but it sounds pretty complex change for such a small %

I agree that it uses very little CPU. But it might use a lot of memory. Unfortunately we have no tools that tell us how much memory each app or device is using.

So @terminal3 are you saying that the rules and devices have to be on the same hub? I thought the point of hub mesh was that they were available to use from either hub?

Hub mesh is confusing to me if that's true.

No, you can leave the rules on the C8. Sorry I just thought that is what you wanted to do.

You can get echo speaks started on the C7 then share each each echo device on hub mesh. Then link each device to the C8.

Iโ€™m not sure, but you may be able to use the swap device and just replace the C8 echo devices with the C7 devices. You can probably name them the same as the ones that are on the C8. The ones on the C7 will have the hub name attached to the names after you link them.

You can go back and rename them on the C8 after you get the echo speaks and all itโ€™s devices removed.

If you canโ€™t use the swap you can clone each rule and change the echo device in that process.
