Hub 7 vs Hub 5

The Hub 7 is now discounted to $99 on Amazon. I currently have a C5 and quite of few devices connected and absolutely no Issues. Good time to upgrade?

It's $89 in the banner above!
And worth every penny.

The only difference between the C-5 and C-7 is Z-Wave. The big hardware difference was moving from a 500-series to 700-series Z-Wave chip (theoretically longer range, more processing power, user-selectable region frequency, etc.). Several features were also added in the C-7 Z-Wave implementation along with this change: S2, SmartStart, and an improved Z-Wave Details page with better diagnostic information and more node management tools like Replace, to name the main ones I can think of. (And thankfully, most/all of the early problems with the 700-series Z-Wave radio controller firmware seem to have been finally ironed out by the vendor by now...)

So, if you are looking for probably better Z-Wave, then the change may be worth it. Personally, I moved all my Z-Wave to a C-7 a couple years ago for the improvements, after spending a long time with them on a C-3--so I think it was. But if you're mostly or all Zigbee, the changes probably won't matter as much ... unless you just wanted another hub to play around with.

But if you do, yeah, I'd get it from Hubitat directly -- usually the cheapest option, at least in the US, especially when they have sales like now. Amazon fulfills their orders anyway, so you'll normally get it Prime-esque-ly fast even from them (not that I've ordered enough to know...).
