Seems this may be a "known" issue - but definitely does not work as expected.
If I have a contact sensor "open" when I arm SHM I do NOT get a text alert (as set up) nor does the system arm. I would expect the system would send me the text message and arm the "rest" of the system then notify on future "opens" of the sensor that was showing open when arming.
I did see a post where removing the arming alert will allow the system to arm - and I found that to be true. But it would be nice to know the system is armed and something is not closed, right?
I don't know about "issue" but that is how it works. You have to remove the contact sensors from the alert you if you want it to ignore them. Then it will only use that contact sensor to trigger the alert after it closes.
Ok, compared to ST (which is powered off now - yea!) if SHM was set to armed state, it would arm and ST would give notification - SHM is Armed, but xyz is active/open. That makes sense. But HSM will NOT arm if " Configure Alerts for Arming Failures (contacts open)" has a setting. AND it won't even send the alert - just error in log.
I've seen other say the same thing and their "solution" is just to turn off " Configure Alerts for Arming Failures (contacts open)" feature and system will arm - but you won't know what got left open - not good.
I use RM to let me know when a contact is open when mode changes to one that shouldn't have any open doors.
I also preferred the ST way, but with a couple RM rules it is possible to replicate.
I do the same. When i run my goodbye "routine" if there is anything open it doesn't arm and sends me a pushover notification. That let's me just pick stuff that gets left open, like the patio door or windows but exclude door i exit through. Does the trick pretty well.
