How to track down a problem?

Hi all
I have run into a problem the last two mornings I have a routine with google to turn on 3 devices
how can I track do if it google the hub or a z-wave problem it fine the rest of the day it in the morning and at night some times

Are you able to tell in Google Home whether the routine has run, I've never looked into it myself....

Also, have you looked in the Past Logs section on your Hubitat hub? There may be some logs relating to your devices indicating an issue...? If not, perhaps try turning on some form of logging in the Device Edit page for the z-wave devices, if that is available in the Preferences section of the Device Edit page, then review the past logs after the routine has been run.

An additional test you could try would be to create a virtual device to include in your Google routine to make sure the routine is firing and communicating with your Hubitat hub. So:

  • Create a virtual switch device on your Hubitat hub, turning on the logging options for the device
  • Add the new device to the Google integration app so that Google can see it like your Z-Wave devices
  • Include this new virtual switch in your Google routine, switching it on or off

After the routine is meant to run, or after you trigger it manually in some way, review the Past Logs on the Hubitat hub.
