How to know if Power Loss created a HE Issue

I just experienced a power loss to my HE hub (and the whole house). This happens so seldom I really have not been concerned.

I've read about others experiencing database corruption due to a power loss. And I know there are some fail safe features to minimize corruption.

Question: How would I recognize if my hub was corrupted due to power loss. Is there a definite indicator or will some random rule be corrupted and just not work?

I’ve found that It’s generally all or nothing.
If the database is corrupt and not able to correct itself or restore a backup successfully, you will find the hub will not boot past about 10%

@Cobra

Thanks Andy. I was thinking / hoping there would be some indication.

For what it's worth, guys... It's probably a good habit to get into to occasionally pull a backup of the DB down. You can ask the hub to give you a copy from the 'Backup & Restore' menu item in the 'Settings' menu. The hub holds some periodic backups of it's own, but there are definately scenarios where you'd want a local copy (the most obvious one being in the event of an entire hub hardware failure).

I don't know you about guys... but it would take me a good while to re-build the whole setup if the hub died... so take the odd backup

I use an external script to remotely backup to my pc.

I always download a DB backup:

  1. just before any firmware update.
  2. immediately after some major change
  3. Probably will download after some period of time when there have been no changes, but haven't reached that point yet.

I prefer to download rather than rely on the internal backup because:

  1. I can add notes to the filename and know why I created that backup
  2. If my hub dies, internal backups are useless.

I agree but there is always the odd soul looking in from the outside

I think you just called me an odd soul. I can accept that. And thanks for the backup advice.

I'm sure there are few who are odder than me

Is it possible to create an image of the Hubitat USB stick to create a backup? I'm guessing there might be some encryption conflicts - or maybe not. I wouldn't expect ever having to use it, but it might be nice to have around.

Yes, but only for the z wave (tested and confirmed), I will test something with my development hub with the zigbee, but probably will fail, the PAN ID must match the network and I don't know if it is stored in the chip/stick or in the hub DB.
