I want to migrate away from Alexa and want to see if anyone has siri set up to do announcements or speech (text to speech) using Hubitat and Node-Red. My setup is C7's and a C8, HomeKit on a Mac mini, Homebridge on same Mac mini, Node-Red on Mac mini. My typical use case is a ZWave or Zigbee temp sensor and having that temp announced at a certain time on Alexa, now Siri. Thoughts on how to do this?
Iām not sure the value that node-red will bring to this, but with the airplay integration you can TTS to any homepod/sonos via RM. This is a sample rule.
This looks like it could satisfy 50%+ of what I want to do, I prefer to have it in Node-red but at this point anything to offload any Alexa dependancies...
@sidjohn1 I installed airplay integration which gave me my airplay compatible devices in my device list. If I add these devices to Maker API it exposes the devices and should be able to do text to speech using Node-red, which means I don't have to redo my automations. I don't have my AirPod yet to test this but it's looking promising. Thanks for the clue with airplay integration.
