I swear, last post for a week! I just swapped a old door contact sensor for a new one. I had two arrive today, and I swapped them both. The contact door closed icon for the Patio came up perfectly fine, but the Garage Foyer is a ? mark. I’ve no idea after mashing the icon button on the device driver where to go next. Suggestions?
I believe that usually means the attribute value has not been set yet for contact. Do you have a value reporting under contact as open or closed?
Maybe the sensor has not reported state yet for the first time, so you just need to close it to get a value.
@chrisbvt thanks - I ended up doing the dance - created a virtual contact sensor, replaced the unit, removed the real device properly, and then re-added it with the replace to maintain the In Use By (that has been such an important feature for me lately). The unit got recognized and the icon appeared by itself. I still don’t know where icons actually come from
