How to default bulb at 100%?

Here is a newbie question. I have a bulb in my room, for which I have also created a scene, for night reading. The scene sets the bulb to around 20% brightness. In my dashboard, I added the scene to easily turn on night light. In the same dashboard I also added the bulb device directly for regular use of turning the light on or off.

The issue is, that in the night, if I use the "night light" scene, then in morning, if I use the direct bulb device to turn on the light, it turns on at the 20% level. Shouldn't the bulb device turn it on at regular 100% as I turned it on directly from the device icon? What is the fix here? Or, for day use, I need to create another scene, just because the bulb remembers last used level?

this. you could look to use modes and have a night mode where it'll turn it on to 20%, and a day mode where it will turn it on to 100%. might involve rules as well, i don't use dimmers so not fully versed in them

In addition to @dadarkgtprince's suggestion, you could just create a second scene that was for daytime and in that scene have the bulb at 100%.

Is it a SmartBulb or a Dimmer? And what brand/model?

Some brands allow you to set a 'default' on level. I have Inovelli dimmers which can be configured to turn on at either the previous set level (which is the factory default setting) or at a specific level you set. Most of mine are set for 100%

I use the Motion and Mode Lighting app for this kind of thing. (It's not just for motion.) In my living room, for example, the light defaults to 100% during the day, 50% during evening, and 15% at night.

Mine is Sengled non RGB bulb

I just created a new scene to put bulb at 100%...and something broke :frowning: The scene is not working. Infact, the older "night reading" scene is also no longer working. I am not sure what setting did I incorrectly set.

When I now turn on the scene from my dashboard, it turns the dashboard tile yellow to indicate it is ON, but the light does not turn on. If I directly turn on the light from the device tile, then it turns on.

Figured it out!! I had enabled "Enable level pre-staging", which was causing all the problems. Turned that off, and now my new 100% brightness scene and the older night scene are both working fine. Thanks!
