I have a C4 that I used for years and then I got a C7. Is there an easy way to default the C4 so I can use it for devices and then mesh with the C7?
Thanks

Not exactly sure what you mean by "defaulting". It sounds like you want to do what I did (but in reverse). Keep your devices on the C4 and Rules on your C7 and share from the C4 to the C7 by hub mesh. Very simple and works well. May I ask why would you want the devices on the C4 and not the C7? Assuming you have any Zwave devices, you would be better off in the long run with them on the C7 and having the C4 doing the processing (the C7 has a better path for upgrades going forward). I did that for about a year. Also pulled the Radio stick from the C4 since it was no longer needed to minimize potential interference. After about a year I wound up replacing the C4 with another C7 (still keeping the radios turned off).
Do you care to keep anything currently on the hub? If not, then reset the Zigbee and Z-Wave radios from Settings > Zigbee Details and Settings > Zigbee Details, then soft reset the hub itself from Settings > Diagnostic Tool > Soft Reset or the Diagnostic Tool itself directly. Have the MAC address from Settings > Hub Details handy as the login if it asks. Then, your C-4 will be basically like new, except the cloud registration (should you chose to have done this in the past) will remain linked to your account.
If you do care to keep anything, maybe consider just deleting things you don't want. There's no way to restore only part of a backup (aside from the fact that restoring a backup after resetting the radios won't take any of the device pairings with--just the device listings themselves, only usable for reference at that point unless you re-pair a Zigbee device, which will be recognized as the same, or re-pair a Z-Wave device and use Swap Apps Device or the good old "manual" method to swap devices around in apps).
But I'm also curious about the question above. The C-7 is better than the C-4 in nearly every way but especially Z-Wave if you have any 700-series devices or want to take advantage of the better network health information or other new features it presents. Zigbee is the same, but memory management on the C-5 and later is also improved, which many users find helps the hub in general. I have a C-3 and a C-4 around still, but they've become basically test/development hubs only for me at this point.
I'll also add that by adding the devices to the C7 and keeping the processing on the C4, when it comes time to upgrade the C4 its easy to just upload the back up file to the new hub and relink the hub mesh. Either way if you ever want to upgrade from that C4 to a C7 (or whatever comes next, whenever that is), your still have to re-pair or reinclude everything. Backing up devices to the cloud isn't supported on the C4.
