How to connect kasa

There is a Built-in Kasa Integration that is fairly easy to use.

After installing the devices via the Kasa (or Tapo) phone app, the following steps are recommended for a straight forward wifi setup.

  • Open the phone app (kasa or tapo), go to ME > Third Party Services Third-Party-Compatibility and turn on.
  • Install and run the Hubitat Kasa Integration app.
    • run "Scan LAN for Kasa devices and add.
    • Check if your device in in the list "Found Tapo Protocol Devices". If it is, then I will not install via this app. SEE NOTE BELOW.
    • Select the devices pull-down for your device and select your device.
      • If your device is not on the list (and is not a Tapo Protocol Device)
        • Open the phone app and exercise the device. This will both verify that it is working and improves discovery in some cases).
        • run "Rescan for Additional Kasa Devices"
        • Select the pull down and select the new device
    • Select next. This will install your device.

Note on Found Tapo Protocol Devices:

Kasa (TP-Link) has decided to have all new devices use the Tapo device protocol which provides better security. If your specific device is in this category, this list will tell you so by listing the device. These devices have to be installed via the community TP-Link Tapo Integration. Below is the link and within that section are instruction how to install (VERY SIMILAR TO THE ABOVE except you have to enter your credentials before searching for the devices)>
