How to add Z-Wave devices after a Soft Reset?

How do I re-add Z-Wave devices after a soft-reset?

Things were great for a year or so, but the recent update to 2.2.7 resulted in daily hub lockups. I emailed support, did a soft reset and a restore, rolled back, rolled forward. Still, the daily lock ups persist.

I saved all of my z-wave device identifiers into a spreadsheet and did a soft reset. I intend to start fresh, and other posts mentioned the Z-Wave radio is not reset by a soft-reset, but I don't see any devices and I'm not seeing how to make the fresh Hubitat see all of the z-wave devices. I tried discovery, but nothing is discovered.

Suggestions?

After the soft reset did you restore the database?

No, I don't want to restore the database. I tried that and it results in daily lockups.

A soft reset shouldn't affect the contents of the Z-Wave radio, but it will erase your "Devices" list (and apps and everything) in Hubitat unless you restore a backup. So, as hinted at above, restoring a backup would be one way to re-associate a Hubitat device with a Z-Wave radio device.

But even without doing that, if you wanted to more or less start over but not have to re-pair Z-Wave devices, you should see all devices the Z-Wave radio knows about in Settings > Z-Wave Details (if not, something went wrong--maybe a full reset or manual reset of this radio?). There, you should have a "Discover" button next to any device Hubitat doesn't know about, and clicking it should create a Hubitat device with the best-match driver, similar to what it would do if you just paired the device.

Hrm, I think something went wrong then. It was a normal soft-reset using version 2.2.8.136 and the devices list was empty immediately after the soft reset.

I tried excluding and re-adding one device to see if that worked, which it did but I think I'm going to have to re-add my 35 z-wave devices now. 35 isn't so bad to re-add.

Try going back to an earlier database and see if you're stuff comes back. As long as you didn't reset the z-wave radio itself things should be ok. I'd also look at other reasons for the hub lock up, such as installed apps. Do you have any zooz devices?
