Okay! So, I think I figure out what happened lol. We had Internet access and the Hub is hardwired directly to the Switch, which is how we were able to send commands & get notifications to/from the Hub when we werenât at home. However, the Switch had somehow stopped providing PoE to our APs and our APs are the only way devices can connect wirelessly to our network. I donât have our router/modem combo broadcasting a signal. So, all our devices that get Internet access wirelessly through our WiFi were not working (Bond devices, Ring cameras, etc)
Ugh I know. I am literally putting it off for last⊠Iâve managed to at least sync statuses (Disarm, Armed - Home, Armed - Away) through Alexa, but I might just keep the Ring off HE.
Glad to hear you have worked it out.... I have not... but maybe with some time I would, but most importantly you have.... Good times....
Imagine an office building with an internal phone system, so you can dial someone with a number like "001." If the telephone company had a problem and you could not dial out of the building, you could still call inside the building, right?
Wifi is the network connection that makes it possible for devices in your house to see each other, like that office phone system. And the devices in your home have IP addresses that are actually reserved for this internal use--just like extension numbers on office phones. Lots of desks have a phone with extension 001, and lots of homes have a gadget with an IP address of 192.168.1.1.
Your internet connection is what lets devices on your home network connect to things outside your home, like how you can still dial a real phone number from the office phone. When your tablet, on your home wifi, comes to this site it's analogous to dialing an outside number on the office phone system. Your wifi router is the device that makes this outside connection possible, because it is the bridge between the home network and the internet outside your home.
