I have a First Alert Z-wave smoke detector that has reached the end of its life and is giving off the 5-beep "I'm dying" chirp. A new one will be here today. It's my understanding I can use Hubitat's replace function to replace the dying one with the new one but I can't find that option anywhere. I've searched this forum and the documentation and while I see the option mentioned, I don't see a button on either the Z-wave Details page or the device page that would allow me to swap out the new one for the old one. What am I missing? TIA.
Easiest way, IMO, is to just pair the new one then use the swap option in settings to replace the old with the new. Then just remove the old one.
The above would also be my suggestion.
But if you're curious: what model of hub are you using? This is only available on the C-7 and newer. And even then, it will only appear on devices the radio considers "failed."
To use the replace feature. Remove power for the old device. Go to the Z-wave settings page. Find the device. Hit the repair tab. You might have to hit it a couple of times. Then a replace tab will pop up. Hit replace and the hub will go into inclusion mode. Start inclusion mode on the new device. If should find it and you will be all set.
Thanks, that did the trick. The new device is in place and I didn't have to update any of the pistons that use it.
