I hope this makes sense. I made a cloud backup of HE 3 days ago. I also did a local backup of my webcore pistons. Now, 3 days have passed. I have edited some of my webcore pistons during that 3 days. I also made some HE device changes during that 3 days but encountered some problems. So, I made another cloud backup of HE and another webcore backup. But now I want to restore the HE cloud backup from 3 days ago, which will not have my most recent webcore edits. How do I restore my most recent local webcore backup in entirety after I do the HE cloud restore from 3 days ago? Doing a restore from within webcore only allows restoring a single piston at a time.
As long as your separate WebCore backup was after your 3 days old backup just go into WebCore.
Select New piston and Import; point it at your WC backup file.
You will get a list of all your pistons to import.
Remember to rename your current one after the 3 days old restore as WC does not like to import a piston from a file with a duplicate name.
Can I import all of my webcore pistons at once? I changed so many pistons during that 3 days that I cannot remember which pistons I modified.
There is a “last edit” date on the pistons in the import file so that may help.
I don’t think you can bulk import.
Years ago when I migrated from external WC app to the internal one I recall having to import each piston.
I wonder if an option to restore ALL pistons from a recent backup would be of interest to the HE community?
I would be a conditional “yes”, though I am interested to hear the specific use case you might have in mind.
The only large scale restore that I did was upgrading from C7 to C8 Pro. That was 2 years ago and I don’t recall whether it a big deal.
Now that I think about it, this may be the ideal time for me to move to the built-in WC. Having just moved, I only have 16 active pistons (93 paused but retained). There may never be an easier time. Hmm.
Yeah, the only time I ever needed ALL was during the migration from manual updates to HPM WC.
Laziness. I was working with my 3 Schlage BE469ZP locks. I am done with them. See my post Here. I was also editing pistons along the way. Ultimately, I created some z-wave ghosts. Instead of going through the whole process of getting rid of those, I got lazy and just restored a recent cloud backup from 3 days earlier. But the webcore work that I had done over that 3 days was not in that cloud backup. I saved my pistons before I did a restore. Once I did the system restore, I wanted to restore all of my pistons at once.
Circle of life on the HE community. That post reminded me that I needed to replace two keypad locks at our house. That’s a whole other story.
Oh, and Laziness is always a viable answer to “why do something” in home automation.
Yep, that was the impetus for all of this. As you know, I am changing out all of my Schlage locks to Kwikset. So, indeed, “circle of life.”
