current version

I did "download latest version", it doesn't auto update to 2.3.9.193.

It says I need to do it via "restore previous version"

how come i have to do it this way?

Can you explain why you are using the hub diagnostic tool to update your hub to the latest firmware version?

If you use the hub’s primary admin interface, you can download and then update to the newest hub firmware.

As @marktheknife pointed out, you don't. Simply go to yourhubip>>settings>>check for updates, then it will ask you to update hub if an update is available. That said, HE will NEVER auto update. Updates are left to the end user.

For regular updates when the hub's web interface is available, you need to connect to the hub, then select Settings on the left menu, and finally, select "Check for updates". Doing it this way, the update is downloaded and installed with one click.

Now, for the rare occasions when the hub's web interface is not available, the Diagnostic Tool offers a set of utilities to help you troubleshoot problems.

The download latest update is often used during beta testing, for example, when the fast release cycle may overwrite all of the production versions available on your hub, so you can't restore the current production version. In that situation, you go to the Diagnostic Tool and select "Download latest (production) update" to save it on your hub that you may or may not want to install immediately.

Because the auto update didn't work. Notification told me there is new update, it downloads, but wouldn't install.

is it not getting to 100 percent or is it dying during the download?

it would get to 100% and then revert back to giving me an option to download the update.

So thats why i had to try via diagnostic tool.

Happens sometimes, gets stuck for whatever reason.
Does this happen every time or just this on time? I would only be concerned if this is a constant problem.

You could try doing a reboot, select advanced, rebuild DB and purge logs. This will clear up any garbage that could be causing issues.
