C8 hub with latest software.
More and more lately my zwave mesh is flaky.
This is difficult to explain because it does work kind of. But more and more often over the last 2 months switches (zooz 800lr) won’t do anything when pushed. My switches are physical control disabled and scene control enabled because my bulbs are hue. Like I said, more and more I’ll hit a switch and nothing will happen. I went around poking switches and watching the hub logs and yeah part of the time nothing.
Also in the past week it’s gotten really bad. Random zwave devices suddenly no communication.
If I do ANYTHING to try and interact with the zwave network (inclusion, exclusion, repair, etc) the hub will do one of those things once, then nothing. Ex: I do a zwave exclusion on a device that isn’t responding. Exclusion is successful. Then I go to do an inclusion, it says inclusion active and counts down but never finds anything, zwave details page shows but isn’t up to date, can’t exclude any other devices. I can graceful shutdown power down and power back up then it will do 1 operation again before same behavior as before.
I don’t have any ghost devices. It really feels like a failing radio or something along those lines.
Did you migrate to this hub perchance? I had similar behavior after migrating from a C-7 to a C-8; even though Z-Wave on the C-7 was disabled, apparently it was still active enough to confuse the mesh. Doing a Z-Wave radio reset on the C-7 resolved the issues.
I was having issues like this recently and found that switching to a new power supply fixed it. I used a zniffer and found the hub was just barfing out Acks with CRC errors over and over again which made everything grind to a hault. The old iphone charger I was using to power it must have finally started to go bad or something.
Are you using the antennas that came with the C8? I ask because I did the antenna mod on my C7 and used those and had issues pairing new Zwave devices with the 5db antenna I was using.
