In all honesty, you should stick to Hue. You can use Hue, IKEA TRĂ DFRI, and Cree connected bulbs. That should be enough for bulbs.
@erktrek A very well written response. Thanks.
What about Sylvania bulbs. Getting conflicting info on that. Thatâs what most of my bulbs are. Have 1-2 Segled. For Hue hub
I canât agree more. My time shouldnât be baby sitting these controllers. I have more important things to focus on.
Ultimately, Iâve given myself a time line of another 12 months. If I canât get to a point of having a system that can just run for months at a time without any maintenance I will be pulling most out and selling.
I will then just use lutronâs app to turn on and off lights based off timers and get on with my life. Possibly toss in some Lutron motion sensors and the use of picos to turn off the house.
Itâs open now.
Some of Apple's HK tools are available but not the HK hub software. The HomeAssistant implementation will still need to be reverse engineered but the tools may help.
Although only Hue bulbs will be visible to HomeKit, or has that changed?
Oh thatâs correct. I forgot about that. Yeah @jj11 you would only be able to control non-Hue bulbs via the Hue app. And Sylvania are the wrong type of Zigbee. They wonât work.
This killing me, they won't work.
Think I need to just wait and see what new tech come s out soon. I think Sengled is making a hub that shows promise and is affordable.
" Osram Lightify bulbs bought in the US, use Zigbee HA, and the Philips Hue system and bulbs uses only Zigbee LL and Zigbee 3.0, so they wonât work or connect with your Hue bridge. If you are in the US then these bulbs will not work.
Our Verdict â US Version will not work"
Yeah dude. We know this. I donât think home automation is for you.
I use a Qnap server and have Homebridge running in a Docker container.
The only plugin I have installed is Homebridge Hubitat Hubconnect.
The Apple Home app is the only GUI interface I have for my main hub.
Runs pretty flawlessly and easy to manage with Hubconnect.
FYI, their homekit hub is out. AFAICT, it only supports their bulbs.
Maybe dealing with people is not for you.
I donât whine and complain. I get to work. Whatâs your excuse?
I am going to try the HomeKit hub less bulbs and see if they have improved at all. Do they form a Bluetooth mesh?
Easy Canuck.
Now now leave us Canadians alone.
