Homekit leak detection confusion

I'm still getting my C8 Pro dialed in.

I initially added a pair of Zooz Zwave water sensors in my kitchen. Tested them with the Homekit integration app and Apple notified me of leaks as expected.

I just added a pair of Aeotec Zigbee water sensors in the basement. Added them to Homekit integration and restarted it. Apple Home does alert for leaks on the new sensors.

When open the Apple Home app and test adding an automation based on a sensor, I only see the Zigbee sensors. Why? Is that a bug or a feature?

I do see all of the sensors when selecting the specific rooms that they are in on the Apple Home app, and it does look like I would be able to create automations for them.

I'm not at all sure that creating the simple logic that I need in the Apple Home context makes sense - I'm just trying to understand the integration. All I plan to do is shut the water valve and kill the power to our humidifier.

Thanks folks!

I wonder if there's a capability listed in the Aeotec driver that isn't in the Zooz one and so Homekit doesn't list them when setting up the automation on the Home app.

In the Homkit Integration enable the Advanced option at the bottom and then post screenshots of the two different devices from the list in the integration app.

Here are the details. Perhaps the difference is that Hubitat sees the temp sensor capability in the downstairs Aerotek Zigbee units but not in the upstairs Zooz Zwave units?

I think you are right, when you see those sensors in the automations list it is picking up the temperature. None of my leak sensors show up in the automations app. However if I go to the sensor itself I can add an automation from there.

Next disappointment for you, HomeKit does not allow you to automate water valves either.

One more reason to make all your rules in Hubitat, no restrictions.

Thanks - but no, thatโ€™s not a disappointment to me.

The sensors and the valve both connect directly to Hubitat. Why would I add another level or two of complexity to something I just want to work?

The notifications work well through HomeKit, but the rules will be through Hubitat (one way or another). I just need to wait for my Zooz relay to arrive so I can shut the main water valve AND the whole house humidifier valve as needed. The humidifier seems to allow lots of air into the plumbing when it continues to run when weโ€™re not home.
