Homekit integration - frequent unavailable status

Hi all,

After installing the built-in app HomeKit Bridge, and successfully connected to my Homekit, devices on Home app have been rather unstable - frequently showing unavailable status.

Is the built-in HomeKit Bridge not the ideal way for a stable Hubitat-Homekit connection?

Are there any workarounds?

Tried looking into Homebridge v2 by Anthony S., but seems too complicated for me to even get it connected to Homekit after installing the app.

Are you running the current version of the Apple Home architecture? The old version wasn't very stable with bridges.

my 2 cents on this issue, every time i have seen it on my network it’s been an issue with MY network and not hubitat. On my AP if i enabled DHCP Offer Broadcast to Unicast and ARP proxy it WILL cause this issue and it was β€œfun” tracking this down and were both enabled by default.

I would recommend starting with this support article and if your AP/Router has any settings to mess with broadcasts or ARP, turn them off. It Also cant hurt to reboot your AP/Router.

hmm, I don't see an update under Home, but it should have been the latest given I update all apps regularly

you are right. I switched to Wifi on Hubitat, and there is no longer any disconnections on Homekit. it seems to be a problem with (i) either my lan port (currently at a temporary location, which I will eventually move the hub to a different spot with a new lan port), or (ii) data cable that connects from port to hub (easy to test but I shall stay on Wifi for now until I make the actual location shift), or (iii) ethernet port of the hub (hopefully not).

It's not an app version. It was a manual migration introduced a couple of years ago. Depends upon when you set up your home.

In the Home app, look in Home Settings -> Home Hubs & Bridges. If you see an "Active Home Hub" then you are on the new architecture. If you are on the old architecture, you will likely see a warning about that.
