Just recently, I have set up my Home pod as an airplay device. I have created a rule using text to speech that when the gate opens it speaks "Gate Opened". The voice that it plays sounds like someone speaking after breathing in helium is there a way to change that or play a pre recorded message?
Not sure if this works for HomePods or not... Please go to the Hub's Settings-> Hub Details web page, and then try adjusting the following setting to see if it makes a difference.
I know this works for the built-in Sonos TTS engine. It might work for the HomePods as well... 
That fixed it changed from Ivy to Joanna
