Help I am trying to get moe manger to work with a home/away and day/night setting
The idea being that when I am out of geofence it will switch to away mode but morning, day, or night depending on time. Then if I am in geofence it will be day or night.
It just won’t behave I’ve attached screenshots to help
I suspect that you want specific modes to occur at various times during the day (one of 5 different modes).
When you leave the house, the current mode will be changed to another specific mode, based on the time you left the house (one of 3 different modes). That new mode will stay in effect during the entire time you are away.
When you return home, you would like the mode to return to whatever mode it would have been at that time. as if you hadn't left the house at all.
Can you confirm that is your goal, or can you describe what you actually want Mode Manager to do?
For the "set mode at times" block of modes, you want to select "skip" in the far right column for all the modes that you want to use for "away" and change the times in that table to "don't change". The times in that block are ALWAYS followed.
Then remove the modes that are NOT away modes from the "Set Modes with Presence Sensors" table. The entry you have for "return from away" will resume the timed schedule for the current time.
The thing I am not sure of is whether it will go through the away modes at the times you want if you did not leave while one of them was active. I am thinking the trigger (you leaving) would have to occur in the away time zone, and then it would stay there until you arrive. I only use one "away" mode. What is the use case for the timed away modes?
Maybe there is something that could be done with rule machine to change your modes at those times with a conditional to check presence? Set a required condition as no presence detected, trigger as the time you want the modes to change, then on the actions, change to the away mode you want. (I would think this would be easier with 3 separate rules, one for each time). You would also want to leave the time restrictions you have in mode manager's "Set Modes with Presence Sensors" so that when you initially leave, the right mode gets started.
