Every so often I get this little balloon telling me I have a high priority notification.
My problem is I don't know how to retrieve this notification.
Just click on it. If it still shows after reading it, simply refresh your browser.

Browser issue? Browser configuration?
Clicking on it opens a scroll window with all the notifications.
For me, notifications on the left indicate that I have either an unread personal message or an unread bookmark reminder.
The number typically disappears after I read it, though sometimes there is a glitch which causes it to remain a bit longer. It will disappear when I close and then re-open the browser tab.

Maybe that's what it is - a bookmark reminder. Thanks for mentioning that.
