Now THAT drives my dog nuts. Also when the smoke detector batteries get replaced the beeper goes off so I have to change them outside.
Yeah, one of our dogs goes crazy nuts scared when the UPS or smoke alarm or my watch or my phone or a kitchen timer starts beeping. She is basically scared to death of any beeping sound, poor thing. I've tried to re-condition her by setting off beeping and then offering her favorite treats, that's helped a little.
Dogs hear at sound frequencies quite different from ours, so they could be affected by devices that are emitting sounds we'll never notice. We top out around 20,000 Hz, dogs can go as high as 47,000 to 65,000 Hz. So if you have any device (smart or not) that is "whining" in a frequency that 1) Your dog can hear, and 2) Scares or disturbs your dog, I'd expect it could cause different/distressed behavior based on the experience w/my dog. I can't imagine how she'd behave if she was around a beeping device for weeks.
The old tube televisions used a flyback transformer that would emit a high frequency sound. I dated the daughter of a man who owned a tv repair shop. He said if they turn the set on and hear the flyback that eliminates a lot of diagnostic time.
He had one tech who used a grounded screwdriver to check for voltage. No spark no voltage. He showed me the screwdriver. Lots of arc marks.
Same here. Funny how I can still distinguish high frequencies from the one in my own ears and I’m still bothered by them.
Exactly what my tinnitus is like. Funny how we didn’t recognize how ”sick” our pets are getting from this all those years.
Excellent way to destroy the flyback. I’ll bet they sold a lot of replacements.
All I have to non constructively say is ... @lcw731 ... dude that was impressive to get 2.3K views in a topic in a day. Props.
It is impressive. My next topic:
"Radioactive Smart Plugs making cats puke?"
That's what the RoHS marks on smart devices are. Radioactivity on Housecat Standards.
