Help with .. tile(?) on HE Home page

I've written an app that uses virtual tiles. My HE virtual device doesn't display a default value for Energy.

As far as I can discern, its something wrong at capability level - as if it's not defined as a sensor in HE.
Using my trusty HD+ dashboard, I push the tile via Maker API - and compare against functional tiles. in HD+ - the functional tiles show a 'Sensor':

whereas an Energy tile does not show a sensor:

(it only show Energy on HD+ because HD+ is more robust and gives me a raw method)

yes - I commented everything else out - just to debug.

when compared to the other 3, they are literal copies of each other with the exception of the capability an set commands. I'm just trying to display kWh as defined in the HE dev guides.
