I have an older GE/ Jasco ZW3004 in wall dimmer switch that I’m trying to include into my C-8 Pro hub. This device came out of my old home with my C5 hub. I believe I excluded it from that hub when I moved but I’m having trouble with the inclusion into the new hub. Everything is working physically on the switch, but I’m not able to get my C-8 to include it into the hub. I tried what I believe is the process for a reset on the device, three clicks up then three clicks down. But I’m not getting any results. I concede that this device is old and it might just be past its time, but it’s always worked reliably in my old home and everything outside of the Z-wave is working find now.
Any ideas on how I can get this device reset and included into the new hub?
If memory serves correctly you have to exclude those switches from the hub. I don't remember those old switches (which I still have a few in the walls) having the ability to do a reset from the switch. Put the C8 hub into exclusion mode and try excluding it again.
I could be wrong about the reset but I would still try excluding it using the C8.
I had to reset my GE ZW4005 switch yesterday. After the button pushes, I didn't notice anything, so I tried again- 3up/3down very quickly, and I heard a faint click. I went to hubitat and performed a z-wave inclusion and it found the device.
From the manual:
Reset to factory default ( btw- the manual for the ZW3004 says the same)
This device also allows to be reset without any involvement of a Z-Wave controller. This
procedure should only be used when the primary controller is inoperable.
Quickly press ON (up) button (3) times then immediately press the OFF (down) button (3) times. Note: This should only be used in the even your network’s primary controller is missing or otherwise inoperable.
I agree. I run exclusion even before adding brand new devices and, more often than not, Hubitat excludes a device. Knock on wood, I have never then had trouble including a Zwave device and the inclusion process works without fault
I tried the general exclusion, hit the switch up once and the hub said that it had excluded an unknown device (or something like that). Ran the inclusion and it found it immediately.
I’ve never had to run a general exclusion before. Thanks!
