Had installed "Zigbee Map" on my C8 (currently on 2.3.8.125).
Something got corrupted with the install (installed using HPM) and the app shows (3) child "Zigbee Map Helper" devices. After removing the app, 2 of those devices remain, and have greyed-out non-responding Remove buttons.
I tried doing an app repair with HPM, but no matter what I do I am left with those child devices.
I tried a reboot with backup-restore and that didn't help.
I tried a forced removal using - http://yourIP/device/forceDelete/deviceID/yes
With my Hub IP and the device ID, but I get the spinning circle for a few seconds and then it lands on the device list page again - stubborn device still there.
How do I get rid of these left over child devices???
I have done this on more than one occasion when editing in RM has resulted in an uneditable rule. It's a great lifesaver for those of us that never remember to clone before editing.
That would be a good idea, unfortunately, I have built a few Rule Machine apps in the meantime before realizing I had this issue and would hate to have to re-do everything.
I figure there has to be a way to force remove something like this?
Do you know enough about what you have changed to be able to export each of the affected rules before you do the restore? Alternatively, take a backup before doing the restore of the older backup.
Yeah, from the discussion on the app thread I would have thought so too. Would be interested to see what the notes are on this URL, could not see anything in the documentation...
Unfortunately, it's a whole daisy chain of work. I had added a multi-endpoint device, some contact sensors, created virtual devices, built a number of rules, added things to Maker API, which then added tiles to my HD+ Dashboard, which I then edited and customized. Hate to go back - hoping for something much more convenient
The only other thing I can think of, and I'm fairly certain this wouldn't work, but you could try taking a backup, restoring an old backup, exporting the Zigbee Map App, restoring the more recent backup and importing the Zigbee App. The likelihood of it re-establishing the device link is unlikely, but could be something to try if you don't get any joy through other means.
Finally got them removed. One seemed to delete itself overnight, and the other I eventually got forceDelete to work (http://yourIP/device/forceDelete/deviceID/yes).
I read a post about a nightly cleanup routine performed by the Hub that cleans up un-attached child devices, but I don't know if that is verified or if that is what happened here with the one device, or if my numerous attempts with forceDelete finally got through.
I also changed the apps code before re-installing the app to give the child device a functioning Remove button.
