We’re always looking for ways to make Hub Protect more valuable to our users, and we’d like to hear directly from you.
What features or benefits could we add to make Hub Protect more appealing? Are there additional protection options, support benefits, cloud services, discounts, or other features that would make the service more useful to you?
Whether you’re a current subscriber, a former subscriber, or someone who has considered subscribing, we’d appreciate your feedback.
While we can’t promise that every suggestion will be implemented, your input will help us better understand which benefits matter most to our community.
I see Hub Protect provides migration from your old hub to your new hub. I'm sure many people have several hubs. Upon purchasing a newer more powerful hub I would like to migrate other hubs as well. For example, if I buy C8-Pro I can migrate my old C8 to the C8-Pro. I'd also like to migrate my C5 to the C8 and then migrate my C4 to the C5 and retire the C4. Perhaps we can to that today with Hub Protect on each hub, I'm just not clear about that.
Fixing the site (https://shop.hubitat.com/hub-protect/) appears to be having trouble loading for me (so I cannot even easily look up the feature right now). I cannot find a link to any page about it from Hubitat.com either.
The Documentation page does not mention ZigBee restoration… is that a thing?
Dedicated support link that could be available to Protect users (tied to their username so others cannot reuse it).
Bundle deal for multiple Hubitats (or discounts as you add more).
Migration can be configured to automatically wipe the old hub once it is completed successfully.
That’s probably referring to a hub upgrade during a warranty claim process (e.g. if a covered C7 dies and the user is interested in upgrading to a C8 Pro).
The current migration options are structured as follows:
Migration is free when upgrading to the latest hub model.
With Hub Protect, migration is available between any compatible hub models, including upgrades and downgrades, provided the destination hub’s hardware supports the migration.
This is not a valid path to the product. Direct links to the backend store are not possible since they require two parameters: a hub id and a unique token for the account.
The main page to access the available subscriptions that allows you to select a hub without coming from the hub itself is: https://my.hubitat.com/subscriptions
Migration and restoration are used interchangeably. They mean the same thing.
This is avaibale now. If you already have Hub Protect or Bundle on one hub, any additional hubs get $25/year off - discount is automatically applied at checkout:
I think he and I were thinking of having an actual link on the Hub Protect page to get support for warranty claims. That would go directly to you guys and linked to our email address or username.
Fast turnaround times because, obviously, without a hub, we have no way for a lot of our systems to even turn on or off a light. So to get a warranty claim next day would be just amazing.
At least on my system, I use a lot of light socket plugs because I have an old home, and there's literally no way to turn the lights on and off.
I was also thinking I should probably get a second hub just for that fact, in case this one cuts out.
Yeah, some sort of link directly to it for issues with warranty or help, https://my.hubitat.com so we can figure out what's wrong with the hub. and expedited shipping < yes
Few responses now that I am back. The link I provided about it was actually one you posted @bobbyD back in this thread: What's included in Hub Protect? I was trying to find out what the features WERE to compare to what there is otherwise and found that thread. I think you need a main page like that on the store rather than a subscription page because people would want to know about the service/subscription/extra features BEFORE buying a hub. They could be an additional selling point and reason to go with Hubitat in the first place. Local first, one time purchase, but we DO have subscriptions for other features to make life easier…
For the support link/contact point, I was actually thinking more along the lines of rather than having people search/post in the forum they could have a separate method that reaches out to Hubitat, and that could include the warranty process as @WarlockWeary was saying… but I was also thinking just general support. Asking on a community forum for help is not something everyone wants to do, for a variety of reasons.
I mention the ZigBee restoration because the documentation page calls out Hub to Hub Z-wave device restoration (with an asterisk).
Looks like Zigbee is pretty well explained in the following section of the Hub Protect documentation. Or are you referring to something else that is lacking?
