Sitting in the Alaskan woods…not getting anywhere.
I have a new Hubitat hub model C-7 fresh out of the box. It’s green light is on and it’s plugged into the solo cat5 port of a ATT hotspot router…a Netgear Nighthawk model MR100. The 5G is disabled so only the 2.4 network is present.
Following the procedure with my iPhone…I cannot see my hub. Not even with the advanced mac or ip search. What do I have wrong?
Chance.
Tagging @bobbyD from support who can hopefully assist you with this better than me
In the meantime, can you see the hub appear in the list of devices connected to the Netgear router, through the router's web admin interface? If so, does it have an IP assigned?
Is your phone connected to the Wi-Fi network for the router? (Please don't feel like I am insulting your intelligence here, you'd be surprised how many times it can be the simple things....)
If I think of anything else I will post back here. Perhaps try and enjoy the outdoors in the meantime.... Although I do see it is around 11pm and 2 degrees, at least in Anchorage, so maybe tomorrow....
I sure do appreciate the help!
Excellent question. So I checked. My phone is showing up on the router list but the hub is not. Not sure if my cat5 connector needs to be rollover without a switch in place or what?
Sure am hoping I can get this to work. Controlling the heat at my cabin with my phone would be the bees knees…and that’s just the start of my plans.
Thank you for helping
Happy to try and help where I can.
Only other things I can think of are:
Do you have any other devices that you could use to test the ethernet cable with, like a laptop?
Do you see any lights on the router to indicate that a connection is detected at all?
I'm guessing you don't have a PC supplies type shop just down the road, or can get Amazon deliveries? So another cable would be something to look at when you get home?

Have you tried find.hubitat.com? Are you running a /24 subnet or something broader?

Still need help…
Reviewing old boards I verified my firmware on my router is up to date.
I also went in and disabled USB tethering on the router and disabled Ethernet standby.
I do not have another cat 5 cable on hand nor a computer I can connect to my cat 5 on hand.
The only device my router is showing as connected to it is my phone via WiFi with nothing connected to the Ethernet. Subnet config is default…
The find.hubitat.com isn’t finding it…not with the Mac or ip range search…but the routers not showing the hub on the network do fairly certain that’s where I’m stuck?
Appreciate the help…most certainly do.

We need to get another cat5 cable in there to rule that out. How many ports on the router? I'm suspecting the router or the cable as the router isn't showing anything or even lighting up at the port (which in most cases even if there is an issue with the HE ethernet port (extremely rare) it should light up from connection.
I agree with Rick Lithgow (@rlithgow1), but I will ask the stupid (me, not you) question, because it’s not clear to me from your network diagram screenshot. Are you sure that the Hub is plugged in to the LAN side of your router, and not the WAN side?
Got it!
Stumbled about and for some reason the have s data offloading DEFAULTED to the Ethernet port…locking it up until you disable it!
Thanks for the help…first issue down…now onto finding my first Z-wave hurdles!

If you have a failed pairing STOP!!! Check your z-wave settings for a ghost. Remove ghost, then exclude device before attempting to re pair

Well my first hurdle of getting a GoControl thermostat to communicate through the 150 ft plus 6” log wall to be able to turn on the heat in a cabin from my phone before coming out to the woods. It does the 150 feet through two windows but once I move it to the mounted position 8 inches to the side it won’t connect. So I’m gunna add a few Z-wave devices…I mean I need to know the temp in the outhouse!!
