My C-8 is running well since I moved to it probably 2 months back. I did use the same DHCP of the C-7 for the new hub after turning off the C-7. I would like to get the old C-7 back up so I can play with it and have read all I can find, know the radios have to be turned off ASAP when I get it back on. I dont understand enough about the address to know what to do or expect since they both are the same. Will it find a new address? Can I change it in my router before I power it up? Should I leave the C-8 powered up when I look for the C-7? Can some please give me some advice so I can find it quick and not mess up my zigbee and zwave.
You can set a DHCP for the old hub in the router using the MAC. Not sure how you gave the new hub the same IP, if you removed the C7 reservation, or have them both set to the same thing currently?
Once the hub is booted up you will want to log in and shut down both radios to be safe.
Then you may need to force the diagnostic tool to update, so you can use the Full Reset option added (under the advanced button).
Use this endpoint to update it HUB.IP/hub/cloud/updateDiagnosticTool
Give it a few minutes, it will just spin for a while as it downloads.
Also has instructions for updating it at the bottom of the docs:
Thanks Jeff, I wondered could I do it with a Mac address. Learning lots of things the last year. I think I removed the DHCP on the C-7 and then assignied the same to the C-8 @jtp10181
