Just thought I would pass on an issue I had.
Friday night. Down the pub with my wife and a couple of friends.
Alert on my phone.
Kitchen Washing Machine Water Sensor has detected water. Please check!!!!
Ignored it as I'm down the pub. Hic!!!
Get home, had too many I must admit, and had a quick look.
The water softener next to the washing machine had gone faulty and was overfilling.
The only way to notice the leak was to take the kitchen units plinth off. (Behind which I had put a leak sensor).
Not much but a gradual small leak.
I probably would not have found it for a few days if I had not had an alert. Could have caused a lot of damage and heartache.
When I got the leak sensors (I spotted a job lot of 5 second hand ones on ebay) I must admit I thought it was overkill as I have not had any issues for the previous 30 years in our house.
Just shows how wrong you can be.
Plus, and this is the big winner, WAF has gone through the roof!!!!!
First off, Iām really glad you staved off all major water damage. Well done, lad!
You can never have too many of these - Iām up to 15 in my little hovel.
yeah, but you live in hurricane country. Could have all 15 go off at once.
True dat!
I must admit I'm now thinking I need to double up (at least) in certain areas to give better coverage and make sure I'm fully protected. I can now see areas, which I hadn't thought were necessary before, that need sensors. Time to start searching for more.
Mine have saved me from more then one big mess. Having a water shut off valve has made the mess that would have otherwise ensued minimal. I agree on the WAF points. My Wife has talked about it to a few friends who have had floods afterwards.
