I've read a couple past forum posts about this but it didn't help. Been using the new HE for the last month and haven't had this happen before. Happened after a reboot of my wireless access point (not my gateway that runs the DHCP server). Also rebooted the HE a couple times but that didn't help.
The IP address of the HE did not change. It runs fine from the web browser on a local PC (wired) using the IP address of the HE.
My iphone is connected to the WIFi router, same as it always is at home. Restarted the iphone app a few times as well.
Its a new HE hub running version 2.2.5.131
Also, when I bring up Node Red and click on an HE config node it doesn't bring up my list of HE devices that I have set for use in the Maker API.
Also just started getting a system message in the HE on the desktop browser saying "Cloud connection is unavailable".
I am able to give voice commands to Alexa devices that then trigger HE switches and a couple of those trigger 2 flows in Node red to turn on/off the xbox and trigger the IR blaster on a harmony hub. And all that is working.
Did you reserve an IP within your router for the HE or set an static IP on the HE itself? To find your hub, go to find.hubitat.com or from within the hubitat app, click select hub
At the moment no, I can't. My WIFI router is setup as an access point. My DHCP server is on a Comcast Business Gateway and it doesn't have the ability to reserve IP addresses. I have a new router on the way and in a couple days I'll be rebuilding the network to use it as the DHCP server and I can reserve IPs for the handful of things I should do.
But - that's not the issue. I never rebooted the DHCP server and none of the ip addresses for any of the devices has changed. HE has been 10.1.10.26 since the day I set it up and its still the same. I bring it up on that IP address on my PC and the iphone and its running fine on the PC.
I have a spreadsheet mapping out every device and their IP and Mac addresses and double checking those, none of them changed. With my Comcast Business account I have a static IP address for the internet and that didn't change.
And after I woke up this morning after having plugged away trying to get HE to work half the day yesterday and after writing everything above. I did one last try on the iphone and now it is working fine.
So, I guess the question now is what would have happened overnight with HE that it would just start working again? Is there something on HE's end that the cloud connection is dependent on?
DHCP can change any time, even from a blip in the middle of the night or if the lease expires. That said the Comcast business gateway does have reservation abilities. I do it for business clients all the time. That said, you can set up static directly on HE. As far as cloud dependence, the only time that is an issue is if you use the app off network. As long as you are on the same lan, the app will use local access directly to the hub.
Its kind of a mute point now. After I got up this morning it was working again. I think I did find where in the comcast login to do the reservation, looks like its the "static routing" screen, instructions are bit more convoluted from what I'm used to with Netgear routers where you can simply pop in the ip address in one place and call it good. My 4 year old Netgear Nighthawk X10 is time to be replaced anyway, never worked very well and I had to install some Voxel 3rd party firmware to get it to work a couple years ago. Also the HE while its working most of the time its getting bogged down or something on some routines like when I turn off most of the devices in the house end of the day or when leaving. Sometimes it turns everything off right away, sometimes it takes 2-3 minutes, sometimes I have to kick it off multiple times. Hopefully redoing the network with a new router will help and I can make sure everything is wired up as efficiently as possible. I'll be getting an ASUS ROG Rapture Wifi 6 gaming router (GT-AX11000) tomorrow and will set that up as the DHCP server instead of using comcast and will be easier to manage.
