Having trouble with ZigBee devices

The reason the rule continues to work from the dash is because the dash button tile is simulating the same events that would be generated by the actual device. So the rule sees those hub generated events (produced by the dash tile) and works.. but when the actual device is supposed to produce them, nothing happens (because it isn't connecting to the mesh).

If the device you're trying to fix is the 'Zigbee 4 button switch' (9543) shown in your first screenshot, it looks like it orginally was a direct-connected child device of the hub (probably because it couldn't find an adequate repeater to connect to). Until you improve that situation, your best shot of getting the button to work is by keeping it near to the hub. Since you've rejoined it, it will have a new 4-digit hex Id but will show up (if it reappears in the child table) with the same name you originally assigned it,

You know I'm going to reprogram them. They worked fine on the old router. After re-pairing it works then doesn't, I give up

Well I excluded/included and made new rules.
After all that it still doesn't work.
I believe these remotes are heading to the garbage.

I'd like to thank everyone for your help. Believe me it's greatly appreciated...

Sorry it hasn’t worked for you so far. I have one of these myself and agree they are a bit fiddly… but if you do get them to work, they can come in quite handy.

Sleep over it, maybe something comes to mind overnight.

Thanks, the only thing I can think of is add a ZigBee plug close to the remote.
It's funny I had no problems before the new router. It's been a lot of work.
I wish I were 30 again

You might consider a cheap zigbee repeater.

They are around 10 to 15 bucks from Ali and plug into any usb socket.

Cool thanks :+1:

I'm still having trouble with my ZigBee devices.
Battery devices work than they don't. Tried adding a ZigBee plug and would not pair. I have a bulb in an outdoor pole light that always worked now N/G.
I'm thinking of adding a ZigBee USB stick to the c7 hub. Do you think that would help ?

I don't think you can plug a Zigbee controller into the hub directly.

You mean one of the Zigbee repeaters that is a USB dongle people have posted on the forums about?

It really does sound like you need some repeaters somewhere, if you have a lot of battery devices, those don't repeat, so you need a solid mesh of repeaters for them to work reliably.

I cannot explain why it worked fine then suddenly is not working well.

Do you possibly have any new neighbors or something? Maybe someone near by got a new router and has the 2.4Ghz on maximum output with 80Mhz bandwidth because they are an a-hole.

I have 4 ZigBee plug outlets around the house. I tried to add another but won't pair. No new neighbors. Waiting for a repeater to be delivered. This morning one of my plugs didn't turn on.
Any good Z-Wave remotes that won't break the bank?
I still think it's the ISP auto pick frequency Modem

I thought I saw somewhere else you bought a router? Or is that not setup yet?
Have you tried working with Spectrum to see if there is any way to change the channel? Or if you get the model number off the router I could find a manual and check it out for you.

Here are some zwave remotes, I have the Nodon one and it works good, I think I have seen people recomend the Aeotech one, not sure on the Hank model.

Yes the new router is up and running. There is a setting to add different passwords for each frequency. I wasn't sure if I should use it or not. I'd keep the 2.4 the same password and change the 5GHz. Would the router control this or the modem? I did call spectrum and they were no help. Kept telling me how great their new units are.

The Wifi is all controlled by the router, so you should be able to specifically set your router to be a channel that will not interfere with your Zigbee. I would recommend doing channel 1 on the 2.4Ghz wifi and then Zigbee on 20 as a starting point. You would need a wifi scanner to determine if there is outside interference from neighbors (unless you are rural and have none).

The wifi passwords does not have any effect on interferences. Personally I use the same SSID and password for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz so the devices can switch to whichever one is better for them. Not all routers handle this well though.

Thanks again for your help :+1:

Well I changed to channel 1 and ZigBee was on channel 20. It may have worked. The ZigBee outside lights came on and turned off at the correct time. Started reprogramming the ZigBee 4 Button scene remote and turns on the correct switch. I'll finish programming the rest later today.
I'm hoping all keeps working. It's been al long road, thanks again for your help and patience :+1:
