I am coming to Hubitat from Iris, do I have to remove all of my devices from Iris before trying to pair them with Hubitat?
In question is the GE In-Wall Z-Wave Smart Switch 12722. I thought I did a factory reset on it, but it seems it cannot be seen when Hubitat is searching for it.
Z-WAVE devices must be EXCLUDED before they can be paired to another hub. I don't know if the reset does an exclude. I would check the GE documentation. GE switches can be a pain.
How do I exclude them? Is this something I do from Iris? Assuming I have already removed them from the Iris system, do I Exclude them from the Hubitat web interface? Or somewhere else? There is not ability to to Exclude from Iris.
You can use HE. Put HE into exclusion mode, and then follow the exclusion instructions for the particular model you have. Usually, that involves clicking the paddle or something.
Once excluded, perform a reset on the device to be sure.
Then trying pairing again. I also find using the airgap, right before pairing, helps with some devices.
I am not familiar with Iris, but there will absolutely be an Zwave Exclude process in Iris. It would't qualify as a certified Zwave device if it didn't. It will be far easier and quicker to properly exclude devices from the Iris platform before including them in Hubitat. It might be helpful to gather user manuals for your devices. They are usually downloadable from the manufacturers website. The manuals will give proper include/exclude/reset procedures.
Hi Chris, welcome. To exclude go to hubitat url and go to settings. Press z-wave exclude, which will be active for 30 seconds. I have the same switch and had some trouble too. I eventually pulled the switch and paired it near the hub, and even that was tricky. As a last resort you could use a long Ethernet cable to get the hub closer to the switch, if a exclude still doesn't work.
