Having issues pairing z-wave repeater function of Iris Smart Plug

I purchased a handful of Iris Smart Plugs to use both as zigbee plugs as well as wanting to take advantage of the z-wave repeater function. I managed to get the zigbee portion of the plug paired just fine. I’m having issues with the z-wave respecter function though. I tried the two methods mentioned online (holding button down, and pressing rapidly 8 times). No matter what I did, the led didn’t flash like it was supposed to. I gave up to go do some more research, and I noticed that there were multiple generic “device” devices in my z-wave settings page. The problem is, they were all either failed, initializing, or unknown. It almost looks like the hub added the device multiple times when I was trying to add the device. The problem is I don’t know how to remove the extras, or even remove them all and start over. I tried removing them from the page, but they end up popping back up when I access the page again. I don’t know how to remove them using the device without also unpairing the Zigbee portion of the plug. Is it possible to do that? At this point I just want to get rid of all traces of the z-wave side of the plug and start over.

Nevermind. I think I figured it out.

please tell -- what was the fix?

I unplugged the sensor, removed the device, then rebooted the hub. It seemed to stay gone at that point, and then I added it again. I was able to pair them by pressing the button quickly 8 times. The led never flashed, but hubitat recognized it after a few seconds.

I've also learned that if you curse it, put your shoes on, grab your keys, and try it one more time before taking it back to Lowe's, it'll pair right up.

I had my plug linked to ST... I can't seem to remove the Zwave part from ST.

Is the only solution to reset the plug ?

Initiating pairing of the Zigbee side is equivalent to a hardware reset and wipes out the Z-Wave settings also, so once paired it should be ready to include as a Z-Wave device by doing the rapid button presses. You don't need to unplug/replug from AC power in order to start the Z-Wave inclusion (unlike the zigbee pairing, where you have to insert the plug into AC power with the button already depressed, wait for the light to turn on, then release).

I did manage to pair the Zwave after a hour of messing with it.

I hadve a really nice custom DH for the zwave repeater that showed better status. Going to try and convert it of for HE.

Hi Sean, can you tell me were you successful with pairing the 1st generation smart plugs or 2nd gen., I have both but have not had any luck with either...….will try again but if you have any tips please share.

Thanks,
