Hard time adding zwave devices

Anyone else find that it's a hit and miss adding new leave devices? I have the hub sitting next to a Cooper receptacle but I can't seem to get it to pair. I already have two other receptacles to paired before. Having a hard time tonight with this one and also a zooz plug as well.

Would be nice to see some verbose logging of the pairing process to know the progress.

Try to exclude the device using the general Zwave exclusion and whatever procedure your device needs to enter exclude mode. After that try to discover it again.

Tried multiple times. Funny thing is I can pair the aeon outlet on first try. And it’s on another floor too. Not sure why the other two refused to pair today.

I’m having trouble with an Aeon MultiSensor6 that was working fine and I chose to Exclude and Include. It won’t include on any of my 4 Controllers now.

I had similar issues and it seemed like the devices never completed the initialization process and were stuck in “limbo”.
Go settings, Zwave information. If your device is listed there with a red reinitialize button, try to reinitialize. It will probably fail and give you a remove option. Remove the device and try pairing again.

Oh…and make sure the hub is VERY close to your device before attempting to pair again.

For the Zooz Zen07, I ended up doing the factory reset first then I was able to paired it.

Finally got it to exclude with the ST hub. Then the LED start blinking blue which means it’s ready to for inclusion. Include easily with Hubitat after that as a “device”. Manually changing it to Generic Zwave Outlet and it’s working great.

I had issues until I moved my hub closer to the device I was pairing.

I paired about 90% of my device from ST over to Hubitat the last couple of days. A few more to go then ST will be mostly for cloud to cloud integration and my spruce sprinkler.

There are time the last two days where I would miss having a dashboard for control of device. Hope the up coming app will allow remote controlling of devices.

You do know there’s 2 control methods available now, right? (Well, technically one and a half) If you have used smarttiles in the past and still have the code for it You can modify it for the Hubitat, or you can look into House Panel which needs a local web server (rpi or pc)

deleted smarttiles already :(. house panel is next best thing i guess. I donated to open-dash right before they killed it which is too bad. I was really liking what they were doing with it. I am hoping the team at Hubitat will give us a dashboard that is running on the hub itself and hopefully it is something like open-dash. @patrick wink wink

I’m having similar issues pairing Z-wave devices - in my case it is a fixed plug that I can’t move close to the hub. I have done exclude several times and no dice. Any other suggestions?

And regarding opendash, @patrick basically turned it over to me to brand HousePanel under the same concept. I looked into their code and saw a few things to leverage, most that have been used to inspire new features in HousePanel. I see no reason why HP couldn’t run on the actual hubitat hub if they opened up the system to allow it. After all I think it is just a Linux box at the core and it must be running a web server because that’s how we get to the main screen. I have been super busy on other stuff lately so haven’t updated HP lately but there are some cool things in the dev pipeline. Until I can fix the zwave pairing problem my incentive to streamline the Hubitat side will remain pretty low. My whole house is wired with fixed zwave plugs and light switches - all humming nicely on ST. I moved a few over to Hubitat to test HP but now I’m stuck because the pairing doesn’t work well.
