Anyone know if I can do a hard reset of the USB stick through Hubitat? Or do I need to pull it and use another system to do the reset? I want to completely clear and re-initialize the controller of everything.
Should be a feature within the hub itself but I can't find any option for it.
The USB Stick simply holds a "table" (DB is a bit over the top for the minimal amount of data stored) of each device and it's device ID. There is also an extensive DB in the Hub for how each device is used/configured. If you reset ONLY the USB Stick, you'll be in a mess where the Hub goes looking for device N that was there, while the USB Stick says "not here".
You want to "factory reset" then you have to do both pieces and Support can give you the Instructions. (It's not complicated but is detailed and is prone to repeated calls to support, I imagine.)
I appreciate your concern about me doing something dumb.
I went ahead and cleaned out the couple straggler devices and did a reset from my other system to make sure the homeid was cleared. So I'm all good with it now.
Still I think this should be available in the "advanced" options. Sometimes it's nice to have a quick easy way of ensuring a z-wave controller is "clean" so you don't have any chances of cross-reference of devices especially if you've used that stick in the past for inclusion of the same nodes and then moved those nodes from one stick to another and can't remember for sure which stick it was.
I understand the need. Not your exact case, since I have 3 ZWave Sticks I can use, and multiple ways to reset them and get them to have a good "Table" of device data.
My big need was the Hub reset itself and I now have a pig for doing that
I got it at some Geek event and it's too small (capacity) to be much use, so this is a perfect use for the next couple of years.
Ok now that is just awesome! Reminds me of R.E.D. "I'm getting the pig!"
Yeah I have 3 sticks. 1 in use and the other two not in use and I was clearing one and since I was already doing some testing with Hubitat I looked, no option so I thought I'd ask.
