Grabbed this a couple weeks ago and it sure makes posting screenshots here a lot quicker.
I have been using that for a few years now and love it.
Windows+Shift+S is what I've been using more and more.
My wife uses Snagit for work because it allows her to do annotations.
For us OS X users, the built-in option of Command-Shift-5 is excellent - providing a PNG or MP4 capture of the whole screen, or a selected portion thereof.
I use Lightshot, they have Windows/Mac versions, but also Browser specific extensions if you don't need it for anything else than within the browser.
What I like about it is that you can edit, black out, highlite and more the screenshot directly before saving the screenshot to file/clipboard/etc.
I looked at that one but it seemed like it wanted you to upload screen shots to their server and I passed. Maybe that wasn't a requirement but I just moved on when I got that impression.
Greenshot also lets you edit, blackout and highlight.
Same here at first, but then saw that you can save localy and/or to the clipboard, this last one is usefull for placing screenshots on community sites without having files to delete after on your hard drive, prepare your screenshot and Ctrl-C than go to the community post your are writing and Ctrl-V.
Slight tangent, I also use the native functionality in Windows and Mac, and sometime Skitch if I want some easier mark-ups.
More importantly though, I'm loving https://recordit.co/ for creating quick low resolution animated Gifs to explain things easier.
This is what happens when you don't keep up on all the native features of Windows.
I've used greenshot for the past 4 or 5 years now. It does everything that you can do with the native Windows app, but better. Highly recommend it.
Let's not leave out the capture ability in the Window 10 game bar. Capture screenshot straight to a file and capture videos. Some of the other widgets like the sound mixer, task manager, and calculator are handy too.
It kind of reminds me of the TSR Sidekick for all you PC XT and PC AT users out there.
Edited to add: [winkey] + [G] to bring up Game Bar
The game bar is disabled on our work computers. Brought it up to using it as a replacement for snag-it capture to our security and productivity group and they said that games aren't allowed. If they only would really understand the functionality it brings.
I did not even know that existed! I use the Win 10 built in snip and sketch
It's fantastic when viewing online presentations. You just hit the red capture button and you're done and not distracted alt-tabbing around and picking directories.
I use snip and sketch more times than not. Super flexible, you can annotate, ink, paste directly or save for later. It's nice having options.
