I know there are some smart option out there. We don't get crazy fancy with what we do. Mainly just the middle of the road grill foods. What's everyone using?
So you primarily grill "road kill"?
This grill has been on my radar for a while, but I just haven't pull the trigger yet because my current grill does fine. IIRC it is smart to the point that it has BT and an app for your phone. Also the integrated temperature probes seem very useful.
Really depends on what you are looking for: charcoal, propane, natural gas, pellet, wood fired, infrared, or even resistive electric.
Also if hubitat integration is a must have because that would significantly shorten your list, maybe even eliminate it entirely.
Very few choices.
I wish I could get my smoker and grill temp into Hubitat using Zigbee or Zwave somehow. I might even settle for cloud, but would really prefer something local.
Despite spending over $2000 for a Charbroil grill and smoker, they are dumb as a rock and there isn't any smarts available - even for proprietary Wifi or Bluetooth from them. It is so stupid the smoker has a preheat cycle, and there isn't a way to get an alert it is done, for example. And it just kicks off instead of going to a "cook" cycle from preheat, so you have to watch it like a hawk.
I enjoy monitoring my smoker don't that that pleasure away from me. There is more art then science to making a great piece of meat on the smoker or grill. There is nothing like getting the meat ready the day before (key step), selecting the wood and getting it stocked up. Then waking up at 5:00 am and starting the firebox and getting the right temperature for a good smoke. Setting the temp probes just right and then timers for the 15 minute bathing of various flavors while the smoke it doing it's job. By noon the smoke is done and then the cooking can begin, slow and low with other prep for serving. Sunday dinner at my house is between 3 to 4:00 pm yum.
