Did anyone else get this in their email? Went to the Ring shop and the code worked too, lol. Free keypad on its way! They are even sending a free return envelope for the old keypad so they can 'recycle it properly'.

I got that once for my doorbell and they sent me a new one. I hadn't noticed any issues really but was happy to get a new one.

That makes me worry that they have discovered that the Gen 1 keyboard will either:
- Explode any minute
- Broadcast your ATM number and PIN to other local Ring users
But a new toy is nice!

some guys battery blew up, maybe that's why the "security" company is replacing them
Not yet, but hoping I get it, as I really dislike the aesthetics of the Gen1, I believe the Gen2 looks better if I'm not mistaken?

I got the same message from Ring over two years ago. I got the free Gen 2 keypad and still have the Gen 1. The Gen 1 still works with no issues.
My daughter got a free one. I figured it was the ticking time bomb of the battery pack.
